Funding for Youth Programs

Kids blogging at the African Community Center

I met with the Grant Writer of ACC today for lunch to discuss various foundation and corporate funding opportunities. There are a lot of grant making organizations out there and the first challenge is to find them and once they are found, to match the funding mandates of the organization to an aspect of what ACC does. And from all the potential leads that I showed her, funder for youth programs seem to be most promising. There seems to be a lot of interest in funding after school programs, tutoring programs and even youth sports programs.

It’s pretty exciting to finally develop a focus and be able to target a particular source of money.

Next step is to get in touch with the ACC Youth Programs coordinator.

I am looking for some funding to work with troubled adolescents. I do not have any particulars, but my goal is to have homes for adolescents, when they do not have anywhere to go. I have worked with juvenile offenders and this is the population I would like to help.

I’m glad that there are organizations or companies that who are willing to fund youth programs. Hopefully more organizations are for this good cause because the youth are really the future of the society.
