You’ll notice that at the bottom right hand side of my blog, there is now a Me.dium widget. For those of you who don’t know, Me.dium is a technology that allows you to see the “hidden” side of the internet. It shows you other Me.dium users as they browse the web. For more on what Me.dium is or is not look here. Incidentally, Me.dium is developed in Boulder, Colorado, and it’s CEO is also the owner of The Kitchen. You can watch him explain what Me.dium is in the video at the end of this post.
I’ve been using Me.dium since it’s BETA form for almost 6 months now and have been following it’s progress with some interest.
Feel free to friend me: grantg
This Monday, they released the new IE version as well the blog widget and to sweeten the deal and get people to interact in Me.dium, they are giving away 5 iPhones. There are two ways you can win one: 1) be one of the selected lucky users who made ten or more new friends during the previous Monday – Sunday week; or 2) make the most friends over the length of the contest (Aug. 6th – Sept. 1st).
I’ve decided to participate and give it a serious shot for two reasons:
- I might get an iPhone.
- I’ve had consistently great experience using Me.dium and have become a Me.dium evangelist in real life and on Me.dium itself.
- Just today, while friending some random people I’ve met and had extended conversations with:
- someone from Mexico who shared my love of nature;
- someone from Italy who loved obscure artsy movies I love;
- someone else from Argentina who shared his passion of new technologies like Me.dium and introduced me to a few other ones;
- someone from Spain, a journalist with whom I could discuss the differences in health care public policy across the atlantic;
- someone from Dubai with whom I shared amazement at the reach of Me.dium;
- someone from India, a graphic designer who showed me his work and the website he is building and finally
- someone from Oregon – well… you know Oregon.
Wow. I am definitely a fan.
Now if I could only get that iPhone…
